In Europe yet another country extends temporary protection for Ukrainians

Moldova has extended temporary protection for Ukrainians for an additional year.

Temporary protection for Ukrainian asylum seekers in Moldova has been extended until March 1, 2025, according to the country’s government website. It is noted that the temporary protection will be automatically extended, as well as the document certifying the identity of the temporary protection beneficiary, announced the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

The relevant decision was adopted by the executive authorities to ensure stability for Ukrainians who have found refuge within the country. Ukrainians with temporary protection will have the right to work in the territory of the Republic of Moldova and will not need to obtain a temporary residence permit for this purpose. However, they must register with the local territorial unit of the National Employment Agency.

Applications for temporary protection for one year can be submitted until March 1, 2024, by Ukrainians already residing in the country, as well as citizens of Ukraine who arrive in Moldova after this date.
