President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the UK Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps.
The Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom, Grant Shapps, visited Ukraine. During the visit, Grant Shapps had a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by The Presidential Office of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the government and people of the UK for their leadership in providing assistance to Ukraine.
“It is symbolic that it was with the United Kingdom that we signed the first agreement on security cooperation during Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s recent visit to Ukraine. Thank you for this support,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The interlocutors discussed further defence cooperation to bolster air defence and long-range capabilities of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, meet other urgent needs of our country in weapons and ammunition, and establish joint weapons production.
Grant Shapps, on his page in social network X, stated that he discussed with President Zelenskyy the critical role the UK continues to play in leading the charge for support for Ukraine.

The parties noted Ukraine’s significant progress in ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and emphasised the importance of further unimpeded functioning of the Black Sea transport corridor.
